Back in 2006 I translated some songs from the album Navigatoria by Shikata Akiko. Those lyrics were picked up by a lot of sites that collect links to lyrics, and now, four years later, Wall and I still have people coming to the site looking for those translations. Well luckily I happened to come across an old copy of those lyrics, which I wanted to put up for all the people who’ve been coming here trying to find them. Looking back on them after four years, there’s some stuff I thought about changing. But in the end I left them as they were. I considered retranslating them, but eventually decided to just translate other things instead. So below are the original translations of the lyrics from 2006.

Bird’s the Word: Preview

As a first here at Life’s Not Simple, Wall and I are trying our hands at translating Japanese manga. There are a lot of popular groups of scanners and translators out there who produce great work, and we’re both the type of people to see such work and think, “Hey we can do that!”
So to prove that we can, I am proud to announce that we will be translating volume one of Bird’s the Word (Sakuya-Maru ???), a new manga that just began its run in the magazine ‘Surpreme Comic’. The first volume is forty-five pages, and over the month we’ll be translating and posting sets of pages, with the whole she-bang packaged together at the end.
I’m definitely looking forward to it, and I know Wall doesn’t even enjoy manga anymore (wait…), so I hope you will enjoy it too! And without further ado, I present the first few pages of Bird’s the Word.
