Ramblings of a Delusional Game Developer

I swore years ago that I would not submit myself to the game industry after seeing its true form: legalized slave labor. I held the utmost admiration for people like my partner-in-crime Wall, whose passion for game design is so great that he chose to stand up to the evils of the industry in order to pursue his dream. I watched such action from afar and said, “Never me.”

Making Games

If you have ever had an idea for a video game, what has ever held you back from that dream? I am talk about about a technical level. Lack of programming skills? Unavailibility of assets? Not even sure where to beginning?

I would like some answers in the comments. It could shape the direction of a possible future project.

D&D: New Editions

First of all, my apologies about the lack of frequent updating. I have taken on some professional work where, coincidentally, I am doing a lot of writing. So I have not had as much time or effort to return here where these delicious morsels of unrefined thought are dumped upon you with reckless abandon, Dearest Reader.

Moving on… This year Wizards of the Coast is ready to start testing what will ultimately be the fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons. Since I found out this news soon after my regular Tuesday night game, I spent some time thinking about how it may affect me or my players.

I was talking to a friend of mine today who speaks English as a second language, and he said something so hilarious I could not help but share it. His first language is Russian, and he could not find a word in his Russian-English dictionary.

Pointless Knowledge

Why does the brain remember pointless shit? I was confined to bed almost entirely yesterday, and when I wasn’t having some bizarre Elder Scrolls meets Swordfish dream I was plundering the recesses of my knowledge. See, when I have debilitating migraines one thing I like to do to try and distract myself from the pain is quiz myself. Often times it is about useful, practical information: Japanese vocabulary, programming libraries or languages, things like that.
