Last Chance For Great Rock

Normally I don’t make updates on the same days as Wall, but I have some important news to pass along. JapanFiles sent me an email about how today is the last day you’ll be able to buy music from Onmyo-za and Girugamesh, along with a handful of other artists. If you enjoy Japanese rock, absolutely pick up the work of those two bands while you still have the chance. They are both fantastic. And furthermore, JapanFiles is a fantastic site for purchasing Japanese music of all genres. You’ll probably see me plugging them more on the site in the coming days, bordering on advertising them, but that’s because I’ve been thoroughly satisfied with their service for almost a year now. Wall and I aren’t the kinds of people to advertise something we don’t genuinely like, unless someone cut us a check for a six-digit figure (but that’s not the case here).

Anyways, you have until midnight Eastern Standard Time to pick up music from those bands. I don’t know the full reasons why they are being removed for purchase, but you should absolutely grab them while you can.

IPL — Units of Measurement

The Ideal Programming Language will support units of measurement. It will not enforce them. What this means is that you can use units of measurement to clarify code and safeguard against certain errors, although you don’t have to.

Formalization

A measurement represents quantity, which is what numeric variables are designed to hold. In most programming languages, you can only assign a magnitude to a quantity — such as height = 10;. On top of having magnitude, quantities can also have a “type”, as defined by the dimension that the quantity represents. For example, let’s say the variable height is meant to represent a measurement in the dimension of length (1D space). We could then say that height is 10 meters. Here, 10 is the magnitude of the quantity, and meters is the “type”, the unit of measurement that ties it to the dimension of length.

The Tribulations of Highschool Lesbians

Wee!

Over the last two months I’ve been seeing a neurologist to help me out with migraine problems. As of right now, the doctor doesn’t fully understand the cause. But my guess is that the root of the problem is likely to be anime. Recently I’ve been on something of an anime binge. I get a hold of these random shows, consume them in bulk, and then suffer what I can only assume to be some type of brain-damage.

Case in point: this weekend I watched all thirteen episodes of Sasameki Koto, a show that originally aired last year. Did it cause more damage to my brain or not? Let’s see…

IPL – Implicit Classes

This is an idea that has been talked about in early iterations of the site. I will talk about it once more, as I feel it is a necessity for IPL to flourish and lead the way for programming 2.0.

First Two Steps to Saving the Moon

Hermit of an Endless Night

Over the weekend I mentioned that I was putting together a guide for beating Imperishable Night on Normal, and true to my word, I’m here with the first part of three, covering the first two stages. I decided to create this guide for the Normal difficulty because, in my experience, it’s a challenging difficulty if you’re not used to Touhou games. My friends who I have seen play the game, without any prior exposure to the series, have always gotten to stage five (of six) on Easy before losing all lives. But they don’t get nearly as far on Normal. And I certainly didn’t either, for a long time.

So here’s some tips to help my friends and any one else who wants to save the moon—or whatever the Hell it is this game is about. Princesses and a house of rabbits or some shit…
